4 Weeks Away from Oceanside

Hi All,

There are only 4 weeks away from Oceanside 70.3, which is on 4/4/09. I am pretty excited because I feel this year is progressing great. I am working out 6 days a week, while logging in anywhere form 12-16hrs a week right now. Here is a typical training week for me:

Monday - Rest Day
Tuesday - Spin with coach (aka. "Pain Cave")
Wednesday - Run and Swim
Thursday - Spin with coach (aka. "Pain Cave")
Friday - Run and Swim
Saturday - Long Bike ride
Sunday - Swim ,Bike, Run

The length of each varies according to what week I am in. With different heart rate zones I need to focus on, each workout is tough, regardless of length.

Overall my body feels stronger. My legs feel a lot more powerful on the bike and my run is coming along. The big question mark is my swim. There are times I feel fast and strong, while other times I feel like a brick in the water. Oceanside is going to be a great test.

2nd Year in Triathlons has officially begun

After Ironman Louisville, I was left with a sour taste in my mouth. I was not satisifed with my performance and expected a lot more out of myself. Yes, it was my frst Ironman. Yes, I did complete the race and was happy (in that regard). And yes, it was my first year racing in triathlons. However, I was not satisfied and the sour taste in my mouth has been bugging me since.

What have I done since IM Louisville? For one thing I kept up training and my fitness. I took 2 weeks off and then started right back up. I am addicted to this stuff and can't get enough. My overall fitness is better now than it was at Louisville. I have concentrated on core a lot more, which has helped me lean out some.

The biggest news is that I have hired a Chris Hauth as a coach. Chris is a pro triathlete that has a strong history of helping athletes qualify for Kona. He officially became my coach January 1, 2009, but I have been training with him in his spin classes since October.

I am really excited about 2009 and look forward to improving upon my experiences from last year.
